As promised, a list of the ads of 2006, arranged by month. We’ve tried to make it as clear and as comprehensive as possible. Look it over, and send us word on what you liked, and what you hated. We’ll put it all together for our February Sokoni magazine article. We would appreciate the help.
Thanks.

good blog. saw your article in Sokoni asking for votes on these adverts.
I am trying to find out who did the Je ukipata adverts. I liked the TV ones and also the Daily nation ones. They were all about real Kenyans i think they were good and i would like to see them again.
The advert of we keep our word were very artificial and i think the CIC should go back to the drawing board. Another one I didn’t like is Kenya Tourism Board “Inspired by Kenya” because i didn’t understand what they were saying.
Also, i understand most of these adverts are done by the same company Scangroup. Maybe thats why most are just assembly line and only a few good ones get through so rarely.

Thanks for the comments, Kinya. we’ll go about finding who did which ads. I doubt i ScanGroup was involved in any, though. Keep checking back to the blog. We update it as much as our day jobs allow.

Thank you Aurpa … but we have no idea who he is or where we could find him. Maybe you’d like to comment on an ad you liked or hated?

Hi
The Je Ukipata ads were done by judy Kibinge who owns a marketing consultancy in Nairobi. As for the model on the nivea ad he unfortunately is South African so it might be hard to find out her name. Anyone seen the new Safaricom feel good ads? I think they have lost it? they look to plastic and to long. thier not intriguing enough to watch more than once

Its been a long year and we’ve a lot of good advertising and unfortunately crappy ads. Will jus mention the ones that that really stood out both positively and negatively;
Likes
Safaricom millionaire ‘Nimeshinda promo’ – Seeing the ‘cucu’ do flips was in itself very hilarious and brought a smile on everyone’s face!!
Co-op bank ‘we are you’ – Brought out the feeling of a bank that really cares for KENYANS. Although it did kinda remind me of the tusker ad ‘one country one beer’
Coca-Cola ‘we all speak footbal’ – This made for good entertainment over half time and before matches and I never got tired of seeing the ‘other dude’ jump out of the closet as his team scored!!!!!
Motorola ‘tight jeans’ – Guess coz we’ve all bn thro that, well most of us chiks!!
Dislikes
Sun & Sand ‘football’ – What was that ad all about?
Safari cane ‘Exactly’ – Help!!! Enough already!!!!
